Anniversary Weekend in Photos

2 May

Anthony and I have big plans to celebrate our first wedding anniversary this upcoming week, but we couldn’t let the date pass by without doing something. We talked about how we want to celebrate our marriage each year, what anniversaries mean to us, and what we each expect from the occasion each year. We decided that since a huge part of our relationship is adventuring and trying new things together, what better way to celebrate each year then to try something new? This year, we opted to go kayaking on Lady Bird Lake (Controversially. formerly Town Lake).

What a gorgeous view of the city you see from the river! This  is part of what sets Austin apart from every other large city.

Originally we talked about trying SUPing (Stand Up Paddleboarding), but decided the team aspect of kayaking made it more appropriate for the occasion.

We ate (exactly one bite) of our year-old wedding cake, after topping it with this Lego cake topper:

Sunday we had a blast going to a pop-up picnic event with some of our friends from our old dinner club.

We (finally) picked up a loaf of bread from the local bakery, Easy Tiger, and made Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwiches on Ciabatta.

While this has absolutely nothing to do with celebrating love our marriage, I had to include this image of the bathroom hallway at the bakery. It is too gorgeous!

Did I mention that everyone at the pop-up picnic wore all white and set their tables in all white? Don’t you love the hats? Did I mention that our friend bruleed Creme Brulee tableside for dessert? This is an event I will look forward to every year. It is one of those traditions that make a city feel like home

How do you celebrate love?
